A VIDEO

The Pickles Shane is a short I wrote and made with so many funny friends, including great-fun directors Adam Brodie and Dave Derewlany, cinematographer Catherine Lutes, editor Matthew Hannam, and composer / wunderkind Bob Wiseman.  It premiered at the After Dark Horror Film Festival and is JUST NOW up online on both YouTube and Funny or Die.

I have rolled a tiny red carpet up onto my computer and do hope you can slip little gowns onto your fingers to join me at its Internet premiere.  Thank-you-&-you-look-Best-Dressed.

Last week’s Meltdown Show was a real fun-excellent time (and it’s every Wed in LA so if you can ever catch it, do).  Robin Williams dropped by, adding to an already so-great line-up.  I told him about ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ opening the week I was hired at a movie theatre in Calgary and the cup of warm urine I found when cleaning that theatre and he somehow hadn’t heard about that happening at all.  It was fun.  Photographer Tyler Ross took some great pics of the night that you can SEE HERE.  They are somehow better than the pic above taken with my phone backstage.  I don’t know why that is.

If you’re in LA, please do come by Meltdown tonight (TICKETS HERE) for the beautiful show that inspired this beautiful poster to celebrate the beautiful birthdays of two for-real beautiful souls (beaut Emily and beaut Kumail).  This is also an amazing line-up of very funny comics, and I’ll be telling jokes and maybe not even riffing on beauty at all but also I might.

Hi, I had a nice mention (as one of the Best Alternative Comics) in The New York Times Magazine this weekend, alongside some of my favorite comics and friends.  It’s in the Cheat Sheet (only in the print version, but click above to read) which follows THIS PIECE on the rise and effect of comedy nerds on the comedy scene.  I’m included along with the very-great Maria Bamford and Andy Kindler (who do clubs, as do I) and Jon Dore (with whom I have done some very non-club / in-bathtub things LIKE THIS).  I’m described as the love child of two people who are not my parents (who then hand me off to be raised by two other people who are not my parents).  It was featured on page 77, and I was born in ‘77 and Star Wars was released in ‘77 so hope you enjoy (the movie Star Wars).

A TEXT POST

An Interview with Levi MacDougall.

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

I spoke with some lovely men in England and this interview below is the result of that pleasant-and-British-ish encounter.

the-humourdor:

Self described as a “some-awards-winning comedian, writer, and actor”, Levi MacDougall has been behind, and in front of, some of the best comedy of the past decade. Building a following in his native Canada and forming comedy group The Distractions, with Paul Schuck and Tim Polley, they filmed a half-hour pilot for The Comedy Network, while at the same time his stand up career grew, culminating in an hour long spot on CTV’s “Comedy Now!”. In America, he continued performing stand-up, and appeared at the renowned UCB show Comedy Death Ray in LA, as well as pretty much everything else you’d care to mention. If you’re still wondering how funny this guy is, you shouldn’t be, but if you need any further proof he’s most recently written for Important Things with Demetri Martin. Get readin’! Click the pic for Levi’s website.
